SURFACING IMPROVEMENTS ON A96 TO THE NORTH OF HUNTLY BEGIN WEDNESDAY 10TH JULY

Amey is undertaking surfacing improvements on the A96 to the north of Huntly between Wednesday 10th July and Wednesday 17th July.

The £330,000 project, which Amey is carrying out on behalf of Transport Scotland, will address defects on more than 750 metres of the A96 road surface near the village of Cairnie.

Work will take place between the Cairnie junction and 520 metres south of Windyraw junction.

To ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists, the essential maintenance will be carried out initially under overnight convoy and temporary traffic lights, followed by a full weekend road closure of the A96.

Overnight convoy working will take place between 7.30pm on Wednesday 10th July and 6.30am on Thursday 11th July.

Temporary traffic lights will be in place between 6.30am on Thursday 11th July and 7.30pm on Friday 12th July.

The full weekend road closure of the A96 will then be in place between 7.30pm on Friday 12th July and 6.30am on Monday 15th July.

Temporary traffic lights will again be in place between 6:30am and 7.30pm on Monday 15th July.

There will then be two further nights of overnight convoy working on Monday 15th July and Tuesday 16th July between 7.30pm and 6.30am.

All traffic management is scheduled to be removed by 6.30am on Wednesday 17th July.

During the full weekend road closure northbound traffic will turn left onto the A920 at Huntly, proceeding onto the A941 at Dufftown and following the route to Craigellachie. Traffic can then turn right onto the A95 and continue to Keith.

Southbound traffic will turn right onto the A95 at Keith, continuing to Craigellachie before proceeding onto the A941 to Dufftown. At Dufftown, traffic will turn left onto the B975 Castle Road and right onto the B9014, before turning left onto the A920 to re-join the A96 at Huntly.

The resurfacing will benefit nearly 7,300 vehicles who use this route each day, creating a smoother ride for motorists and reducing the need for ongoing maintenance.

Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
