Work continues on complex permanent repair plans for the A90 Glencarse Overbridge

Work is ongoing to identify the most effective permanent repair of Glencarse Overbridge, which suffered significant structural damage when struck by a vehicle on 28th March 2023.

Amey undertook temporary repairs to Glencarse Overbridge in November last year, which allowed the A90 to be fully reopened, during specialist testing and investigation works.

Since the investigation work, Amey continues to progress ongoing analysis, design and delivery of the most efficient repair option, which will be delivered as quickly as possible.

The incident resulted in significant damage to one of the steel primary deck elements and the concrete deck slab above. The steel load bearing element was also badly deformed.

Although one beam of the six was damaged in the incident, the ongoing road closure above the structure is in place to limit any direct vehicle loading to that element.

The bridge remains safe for use, under these restrictions, until the permanent repairs are undertaken.

Amey continues to engage with local community councils and elected members and will provide additional updates when there has been a specific development in the project.

The public should be aware that there will be a requirement to install further traffic management arrangements on the A90 at Glencarse Overbridge in future to allow permanent repair work to be undertaken.

Amey appreciates the effects of this disruption on the local community and thank them for their patience.
