UPDATE: Union Bridge on A96 in Keith

Temporary traffic lights are currently in place at Union Bridge for safety.

Work is ongoing in relation to Union Bridge on the A96 in Keith after the area was impacted by a slope failure caused by heavy rain.

At present temporary traffic lights are in place at the bridge, along with a safety barrier, to ensure the safety of pedestrians and road users.

With Keith Show taking place this weekend (Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th August) we are aware that this will be an extremely busy few days for the town.

As a result the temporary traffic lights will be manually operated to deal with the anticipated increase in traffic through Keith.

Whilst Amey acknowledge the impact to road users and the local community, the traffic management is essential for safety.

Amey are continuing to monitor the structure and slope and topographical surveys are planned as part of ongoing work to identify the most appropriate permanent solution.

Please be aware that this will be a detailed and complex process involving liaison with a range of other agencies to determine the full extent of the damage and any associated implications for permanent repairs.

The structure which carries the A96 across the river is Grade C listed, so this will require additional consideration in conjunction with the appropriate authority.

Further updates will be provided as work progresses to identify a permanent repair.
