TEMPORARY SPEED LIMITS ON A92 THORNTON BYPASS BETWEEN KIRKCALDY AND GLENROTHES

Temporary speed limits are currently in place on the A92 Thornton bypass between Kirkcaldy and Glenrothes for the safety of road users.

A road traffic collision on this stretch of the A92 between Redhouse Roundabout at Kirkcaldy and Bankhead Roundabout in Glenrothes resulted in significant damage to a bridge parapet.

A temporary barrier was installed at the parapet to protect the area and the speed reduction is required given the reduced containment the temporary solution provides.

As a result a 30mph speed limit zone has been implemented in this area, with a 50mph buffer zone on the approach to this section of road to allow road users to adjust their speed prior to entering the 30mph zone.

Amey would like to thank road users for their patience whilst they expedite repairs to the bridge as quickly as possible, but in the interim the safety of all road users is paramount.
