LINING WORK COMPLETES EMERGENCY REPAIRS ON MORE THAN 145M OF A92 AT BRIDGE OF MUCHALLS

Lining work has been completed on the A92 at Bridge of Muchalls to top off emergency repairs on more than 145 metres of damaged road in each direction.

The A92 was completely closed at Bridge of Muchalls earlier this month (Monday 1st May) after a road traffic collision resulted in full tanks of diesel spilling across all four lanes of the north and southbound carriageways.

Amey’s team were quickly on site upon receiving notification of the accident and discovered the diesel spillage had penetrated the road surface.

This caused significant deterioration to the surface, making it dangerous for drivers, and resulted in the need for a full emergency road closure.

Emergency repairs were carried out on 145m of both lanes of the northbound carriageway, as well as 160m of lane one and 57m of lane two travelling southbound.

This operation was conducted over two nights, with a single carriageway being opened in each direction after the first night in order to minimise disruption to traffic flow.

The road was fully reopened to traffic on the morning of Thursday 4th May.

Amey would like to thank road users for their patience whilst these essential emergency works were progressed.
