A92 at Bridge of Muchalls remains closed due to fuel spillage

Significant fuel spillage affects both carriageways

A92 AT BRIDGE OF MUCHALLS REMAINS CLOSED DUE TO FUEL SPILLAGE AFTER ROAD TRAFFIC COLLISION

The A92 at Bridge of Muchalls remains closed in both directions this morning (Tuesday 2nd May) following a road traffic collision yesterday afternoon.

The collision resulted in a significant fuel spillage affecting both the northbound and southbound carriageways.

Despite efforts through the night to cleanse the area, the extent of the fuel spillage has meant that it was not possible to safely reopen the road.

Further assessments have been completed which have determined that the fuel spillage has penetrated the road surface causing significant deterioration.

Works are currently being arranged to resurface the affected areas.

The road is anticipated to remain closed in both directions until these works can be completed. A diversion is in place but delays are anticipated in the area.

Northbound traffic can exit the A92 by leaving at the slip road at Cowie Park, taking the third exit at the roundabout onto the A90 AWPR.

Traffic can then continue on the A90 until the roundabout at the A956 junction, taking the second exit onto the A956.

The diversion continues on the A956, allowing traffic to re-join the A92 northbound at Charleston Junction. The southbound diversion follows the same route but in reverse.
